We all have many events and fundraisers to support and we thank-you all for supporting the 2011 Charity Yacht Regatta, run on behalf of The Rotary Club of East Coast Bays Charitable Trust.

It's the 23rd year that our Rotary Club has held this event and we can't help others unless you help us.

We give a very special word of thanks to our principal sponsor Parcel Express, without whom the Regatta would not be possible.

We also appreciate the contribution of our premium sponsor Northern Forklifts.

Each year the funds raised are given to a principal beneficiary and other recipients approved by our Club's Charitable Trust.

Rotary has many projects and goals. Our Club through its Charitable Trust selects what programmes and recipients to support to improve life and offer opportunities in the local and wider community.

This year the principal beneficiary is Kidsline and the Trust's donation will help the Foundation reduce the incidence and impact of melanoma in New Zealand.

Although Rotary looks to its cross-section of members who meet regularly and enjoy the contacts they have and friendships they make while giving service to the community, it needs the contacts and friendships from outside Rotary to succeed well and our Charitable Regatta cannot run without the generous support and financial assistance of our sponsors and the donors of the many raffle and auction prizes.

We are again grateful to Gulf Harbour Marina and the Gulf Harbour Yacht Club for their support of this Regatta. Without their assistance and co-operation we could not run this event.

To the boat owners who give their vessels, time and expertise on the water, and to all who participate, thank-you.

It is great to see many familiar faces returning to support this charitable event and we love new faces.

We hope that you all have a great day on land and sea and that you will return next year with more friends, family, workmates, clients, colleagues and anyone else you know who would enjoy a day out, at the same time as giving us a hand to make the most of an opportunity to give service to others.
